No love for Illinois heading into the weekend? The Illini are coming off a massive upset victory on the road against Penn State while Rutgers is returning from a bye week after four ugly Big Ten games to begin the conference schedule. This has not impacted the odds much as Rutgers currently sits as a 1.5-point favorite against Illinois heading into the game, according to BetOnline. Illinois opened on Sunday as a 2-point favorite but the money being wagered has flipped the line. The Scarlet Knights will be on the road this weekend but are still favorites and can be taken on the money line at -123. Illinois is currently +103 while the total is set at 42 https://www.rskoutlet.com/Tyler_Needham_Jersey-162.There are clear trends on Rutgers this season. After covering the first four games of the season, Rutgers is 0-3 ATS over their last three games. They have also hit four under in seven games, including the last two, because of the inability to score. Rutgers is averaging just 10 points per game in Big Ten play. If they score 10 points against Illinois, it will be another long afternoon for the Scarlet Knights. As for Illinois, it seems as though the oddsmakers and the gamblers are counting on a letdown game after taking down the Nittany Lions https://www.rskoutlet.com/Henry_Hughes_Jr_Jersey-125. It took nine overtimes, in what is a terrible college OT system, for Illinois to convert a two-point conversation to beat Penn State. The defense allowed just 18 points and this is a victory that will make a season. The question is, will Illinois have some juice heading into this game against Rutgers or will they actually letdown on its home field?Illinois has covered three of its last five games with the exception being a 10-point victory over Charlotte as a push as a 24-0 beating at the hands of Wisconsin. On the total, Illinois last six games have gone under and that is a trend to believe in.Neither Illinois or Rutgers has a history of lighting up the scoreboard. Both teams have questions at quarterback but Illinois more so in starter Art Sitkowski now being out for the year. Expect Brandon Peters to start while Noah Vedral is expected to start for Rutgers once again. Both teams struggle offensively and have defenses with the capability of causing havoc. Will it happen? That is yet to be seen but a low-scoring game seems pretty likely. When betting this game, it will be difficult to pick a side. Rutgers cannot be trusted right now and Illinois is coming off a huge victory. If you believe the Illini will take control at home, that is the play. With that being said, the safest bet in this game is the under with how both offenses have been playing. This is a winnable game for both sides and one that neither can afford to lose. Kickoff is set for Noon ET on Saturday on BTN Evan Simon Jersey. Syracuse Orange men basketball guard Joe Girard didn actualize the expectations he set for himself last season. After a solid freshman campaign in which he earned the starting point guard role https://www.sooutletstore.com/Ifeatu_Melifonwu_Jersey-78, Girard play was volatile as a sophomore. He put together good games early last season, but struggled with his consistency. A bout with COVID-19 last December didn help matters. Then a slump persisted through January and February until he turned things around in the NCAA Tournament. In the time since, Girard has dedicated himself to improvement as he eyes a bounce-back season as a junior. He stayed in Syracuse all summer. He was on campus for both summer sessions and worked on his game every day. When he wasn honing his craft on the hardwood, he and Buddy Boeheim would escape the Melo Center for a round of golf. But he was motivated after last season. had a lot of expectations for myself last year that obviously didn come forward, Girard acknowledged. read everything on the internet. Ie seen all the stuff. FLORIDA STATE- Today practice was decent with plays made on both sides of the ball. Lighting warnings and heavy rain minutes before practice brought all the warm-ups inside, and the team stayed there for the duration.Starting with the two-minute drill, quarterback McKenzie Milton nails wide receiver Ontaria Wilson on the sidelines for a first down. A false start on the defense moves the offense five. Milton attempts a pass to wide receiver Malik McClain on the sideline, but defensive back Sidney Williams is all over him, and the ball hits McClain in the back for an incompletion. It looked like the defensive line got to Milton a little too quickly and disrupted the pass, but either way, McClain wasn turned around to catch it. Milton dumps it off to tight end Camren McDonald who gets stopped dead in his tracks. One thing I did notice on that play, however, is that offensive lineman Maurice Smith had his block solid and as things started developing the defender was completely out of the play https://www.fssoutlet.com/Jarvis_Brownlee_Jr_Jersey-88. Quarterback Chubba Purdy has been making strides in practice, and a lot of this has to do with his mobility. The third down conversion drill showcased that after getting 15-yards on a scramble, but he also showcased his arm. Purdy hit tight end Wyatt Rector for a 15-yard gain, before connecting with a wide open Ontaria Wilson for a touchdown. In the one on ones (DBs vs WRs), there were noticeably more penalties. It seemed they were teaching hand technique and had the officials watching very carefully https://www.fssoutlet.com/Jammie_Robinson_Jersey-124, although some of the flags were obvious. Wide receiver Jordan Young caught a touchdown from quarterback Jordan Travis and Jammie Robinson drew a flag. They seemed to be developing some rhythm together because he caught a second one from Travis in the red zone. Wide receiver Andrew Parchment caught a nice touchdown pass with defensive back Jarrion Jones in coverage, prompting Mike Norvell praise and critique. Another notable play was an interception by defensive back Kevin Knowles. Mike Norvell yelled, eye not allergic! and congratulated him.At the goal line in 11 on 11, Purdy got some nice blocking from his line and receivers and escaped the pocket for a touchdown. Later, he found Parchment in the very back corner of the endzone for another. From the 20, running back Jashaun Corbin had a nice hole for a would-be touchdown, but it got called back.Another notable play was in 7 vs 7. Jordan Travis threw a beautiful over the shoulder ball to wide receiver Keyshawn Helton for a touchdown. A defensive back was out of position before the play, and Travis took advantage Sidney Williams Jersey. Once a laughingstock, the Oklahoma Sooners now have a defense that probably qualifies as, at minimum, good.Through four games in 2021, OU is allowing 16 points per contest. Even if the unit performance drops the rest of the season, the Sooners will probably cut their average points per game down from the 2020 mark of 21.7. If you want to get more esoteric, OU ranks 25th nationally in Defensive SP+, an opponent-adjusted measure of efficiency. Keep in mind the Sooners ranked 84th in 2018, the season before Alex Grinch took over as defensive coordinator. The Sooners owe much of that overall improvement to a defensive line that has become one of the nation best https://www.osoutletstore.com/Marcus_Hicks_Jersey-129. OU is tied for 13th overall in tackles for loss per game at eight. The DL accounts for 19 of those 32 TFLs 23 of 32 if you count OU RUSH outside linebackers as part of the defensive front.OU last two games have illustrated how teams are building their game plans around neutralizing that havoc-wreaking defensive front.NebraskaThe Sooners have undergone a significant shift in the types of players they recruit on the defensive line and how they develop them in their strength and conditioning program. Pre-Grinch, OU wanted big https://www.osoutletstore.com/Men-3, beefy linemen who could plug two gaps in the trenches. The media guide for 2018, for instance, lists several DLs weighing in the range of 300 to 330 pounds.NU rushing attack didn produce much, however. In raw terms, the Huskers ran for 95 yards on 38 attempts, or 2.5 yards per rush. It looks a little better when you take away five sacks for 28 yards, which works out to 3.7 yards per attempt.West VirginiaThe West Virginia Mountaineers took a different approach last week. Rather than try to push the OU defensive linemen around, WVU coach Neal Brown did his best to avoid challenging them more than necessary.Unlike NU, the Eers skewed heavier to the pass (29 runs to 34 passes). Running back Leddie Brown and wildcat quarterback Garrett Greene combined for 71 yards on 20 carries for an average of 3.6 yards per attempt. WVU enjoyed most of its success on slant routes to Bryce Ford-Wheaton https://www.osoutletstore.com/Caleb_Kelly_Jersey-93, who caught eight passes for 93 yards. In fact, WVU used the same concept repeatedly. Three receivers lined up to the field side of the formation, while Ford-Wheaton lined up to the boundary (image above). On the snap, the WVU RB would run towards the boundary flat, clearing out the WILL inside linebacker. WVU QB Jarret Doege could then fire the ball out immediately to Ford-Wheaton in the vacated space, allowing the burly wideout (6-3, 220) to use his size to get off the line of scrimmage and shield OU cornerback from the ball. (OU radio analyst Teddy Lehman gave a superb explanation of this concept on his podcast this week.)By using plays that called for short drops and quick throws, Brown essentially removed the OU DL from the equation.ConclusionsAlthough NU and WVU went about it differently, the approaches to minimizing the damage caused by OU DL helped produce games that played out in similar ways. For starters, both teams limited the exposure of their QBs to pressure that can lead to turnovers, an area in which the Sooners are starting to excel under Grinch philosophy. They also moved the ball incrementally with multiple drives that lasted at least nine plays. That had the additional benefit of draining the clock and keeping the OU offense on the sidelines. The Sooners got just nine possessions in each game, four fewer than their per-game average in 2020.As a result, the double-digit underdogs both played OU down to the wire. That means the Sooners may see more teams rolling with similar game plans the rest of the way. In fact, keep an eye out for it in OU game this weekend. The opponent, Kansas State, took a Nebraska-like approach to upsetting the Sooners in 2019. https://www.osoutletstore.com/Caleb_Williams_Jersey-103 https://www.osoutletstore.com/Drake_Stoops_Jersey-33

Maryland football was no match for No. 8 Michigan on Saturday. Maryland gave up 24 points in the first half and then 35 in the second to fall 59-18 in College Park, moving it to 5-6 on the season with one game remaining. The Terps have won once in their last seven games. irst off credit to them, theye a top-10 team for a reason, sophomore linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II said. hey have good players on both sides of the ball in all three phases. After losing three straight games since its three-point home win in late October against Indiana, Maryland will now have to rely on a quality season-finale performance when it takes on Rutgers. Rutgers lost to Penn State this week, meaning that it has an identical 5-6 record. One of those programs will become bowl eligible next week with both teams competing for that sixth win. isappointed for our 25 seniors that we honored on today that we weren able to play better for those guys, head coach Michael Locksley said. ut as I told our team we can hang our heads. We got to flush this one pretty quickly because we still have a lot to play for next week going up to New Jersey with the opportunity to win six. Here are the three biggest takeaways from Maryland loss to Michigan on senior day. Maryland abysmal first half sealed the gameMichigan came into Saturday game with the No. 2 scoring offense and No. 2 scoring defense in the Big Ten Dontay Demus Jr. Jersey, making it clear as to why it entered College Park as double-digit favorites. It looked every part of an elite team over the course of the first 30 minutes and Maryland first-half performance ultimately did it in the rest of the way. Michigan absolutely dominated in the first quarter of this one, scoring the opening 14 points of the game. It used a combination of a strong rushing and aerial attack to go up on the Terps early on https://www.mtoutletstore.com/Hunter_Patrick_Jersey-79. Maryland had a decent start to the game, holding the Wolverines to a three-and-out on their first offensive possession, but a missed 48-yard field goal attempt from kicker Joseph Petrino spoiled Maryland good start soon after. The Terps offense was not-so-stellar in the first quarter. Maryland had just 62 total yards on three drives Josh Jackson Jersey. Credit to the Michigan defense, but the same problems on offense drops, missed throws and penalties stunted anything the Terps tried to do offensively as they trailed 14-0 after the first quarter. Then early in the second quarter, Maryland finally had something progressing in Michigan end. However, the Terps typical penalty issues came back to haunt them when it mattered most. Junior quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa marched the offense down to the four-yard line, but a chop block, a false start then an illegal shift pushed Maryland back. It eventually settled for a field goal as the Terps couldn't manage a touchdown after a 17-play, six-and-a-half-minute drive. Failing to convert in the red zone was just one of the issues Maryland had in the first half. With under five minutes left in the second quarter, junior Anthony Pecorella had his punt blocked, placing Michigan in Terps territory. The Wolverines went on to capitalize with another touchdown, extending their advantage to 21-3 before the break. A field goal in the closing moments of the half made it 24-3. Three points from Maryland on offense and 21 points given up on defense, along with a plethora of mistakes, against a top-10 team in the nation in the first half simply just isn good enough to generate an upset. The Terps offense was no match for Michigan defenseIf there was anything to note of in the matchup, it was that Maryland offense was largely ineffective. Michigan allowed just 16.1 points per game coming into the contest and its elite defense continued over 60 minutes of play in College Park. In the first half, where Maryland managed to put up just one field goal on its seven drives. The Terps and Tagovailoa went down the field for 62 yards in the first quarter, while barely upping that in the next frame with just 64 yards. Maryland finished the first half with noticeable drops from the wide receivers corps and four penalties stemming from the offense https://www.mtoutletstore.com/Terrence_Lewis_Jersey-148. Tagovailoa was also bottled up in the passing game as well. The junior finished the first 30 minutes with 87 yards and 11 completions. The rushing game was absent too, as the Terps backs had a mediocre 39 yards. Those struggles crept into the second half as well after Maryland scored three points in the first half. The Terps immediately kicked off the half with a failed fourth-down conversion, which set the tone for the remainder of the game. Maryland did drive down the field over halfway through the third quarter, still only with three points, and senior wide receiver Carlos Carriere came away with a seven-yard touchdown from Tagovailoa to give Maryland 10 points. he goal is to win... cool moment that Il probably look back on it later on down the road, but right now the focus is just getting that sixth win man, Carriere said about scoring a touchdown on senior day. hat really all I want. Tagovailoa added on to the Terps point total off a 17-yard rushing touchdown, though the game was already out of reach at that point. Tagovailoa wasn able to build off his two-touchdown effort in the third quarter as he tossed a pick-six in the final minute of the quarter to give Michigan 51 points https://www.mtoutletstore.com/Brian_Cobbs_Jersey-6. Maryland went on to score just 18 points in the loss and its offense didn show up, especially in the first half when it mattered. Maryland fails to record a win against ranked teams in 2021The Terps have not been able to keep up with ranked opponents this season. Every game against a top-25 opponent has made that quite evident. Coming into the game, Maryland had faced four different ranked teams in 2021. Matchups with then-No. 5 Iowa, then-No. 7 Ohio State, then-No. 22 Penn State and then-No. 8 Michigan State all resulted in defeats for Locksley program that started out 4-0 to begin the season. In those four losses, Maryland conceded an average of 47 points and 490 yards per game. Failing to record a win against a ranked team remained true for the program on Saturday afternoon. Going back to those four losses prior to the senior day defeat, Maryland surrendered an average of 25.75 points per game after the opening 30 minutes. The first half saw much more of the same when the Wolverines came to College Park. The Terps scored just three and surrendered 24 first-half points, which was actually the second-lowest point total it allowed a ranked team at halftime this season. Nothing much changed in the second half, with Michigan adding on to its lead early on and then eventually closing out Maryland in the final home game in College Park for the 2021 season. After failing to take down a top-ranked team in five tries this season, Maryland will resort to hoping for a win in the season-finale against Rutgers on Nov. 27. expect this team to continue to show up like they have, as I said, we gotta flush this one quickly and find a way to go up to Rutgers and get a win, Locksley said. https://www.mtoutletstore.com/Dino_Tomlin_Jersey-39 Dino Tomlin Jersey

When Alabama rebuilt offense takes the field against Florida, they will be facing a defense that also lost starters at all three levels from a 2020 group that wasn good to begin with. Thus far, the results haven been great from a statistical standpoint, though much of the yardage allowed has come with the game no longer in doubt. Their 5.31 yards allowed per play checks in at only #74 in the nation after playing Florida Atlantic and South Florida, the latter of whom was shut out in week one by NC State. The best players on this defense are CB Kamir Elam, nephew of former Florida standout Matt, and Georgia transfer OLB Brenton Cox. Based on his level of confidence, you think that Cox had more than four sacks last season. Brenton Cox: 'We're ready, of course. The big question is are they ready?"Guess we will see how that works out for him.Up front, the Gators fortified their defensive line with two grad transfers, Antonio Valentino from Penn State and Daquan Newkirk from Auburn Deonte Brown Jersey. Both men go over 300 lbs. and will present issues for the interior of the Alabama offensive line. Valentino started in his final year in Happy Valley and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten. The third starter in DC Todd Grantham three-man front is redshirt senior and first year starter Zachary Carter. Carter came to school as a 250 lb. edge rusher but has bulked up to 285. Gervon Dexter, a 303 lb. sophomore, will rotate in. This unit has been formidable against the run in the early going, allowing only 2.6 yards per carry. At linebacker, the Gators were led by their man in the middle, senior Ventrell Miller. Miller is a third year starter who led the team in tackles in 2020, but it was revealed yesterday that he has a torn bicep and will miss the game. Being that he was charged with lining everyone up and doling out assignments, this is a huge loss and something to monitor. In his stead, two players who usually rotate alongside Miller https://www.actoutletstore.com/John_Metchie_Iii_Jersey-46, senior Amari Burney and Auburn high school product Mohamoud Diabite, a junior, will likely share the field. We have seen in years past how critical a loss of leadership on the defense can be.Cox starts at the uck position, which is very similar to Alabama ack, in rotation with Jeremiah Moon and former Alabama commit Khris Bogle. The trio have managed two sacks among them in the opening two games. Florida secondary has been suspect in the first couple of games, though some of that can probably be blamed on a mediocre pass rush. Elam has legitimate first round potential, but there isn an awful lot back there. Both safeties from the 2020 team are gone, which is always a difficult situation to navigate. The Gators have allowed a shade over seven yards per pass attempt, which is flat out terrible considering the level of competition faced. Again, a decent portion of that was surrendered with the games in hand, but it still doesn portend well against an Alabama attack that, for all of the hand wringing following the Mercer outing, showed what it is capable of in week one vs. Miami. While you have to like the matchup of Alabama pass catchers vs. the Florida secondary, life will be difficult if Alabama is unable to get the run game going on early downs. Grantham is known as a blitz-happy riverboat gambler https://www.actoutletstore.com/Mac_Jones_Jersey-13, particularly on third and long, which creates the potential for big plays and turnovers. The Florida front is similar in size and quality to the Miami unit that the Tide saw to open the season. The running backs managed 5.7 yards per carry in that one. If they are able to match that number on Saturday, we may have some smooth sailing ahead. This would be a fine week for the offensive line to come together. https://www.actoutletstore.com/Paul_Tyson_Jersey-131 https://www.actoutletstore.com/Henry_Tootoo_Jersey-156

Expectations:Defensive line has long been a strength for Clemson and that was never more true than in 2018 when the ower Rangers were the backbone of the defense https://www.ctoutletstore.com/Bt_Potter_Jersey-6. After all four starters and key reserve Albert Huggins were drafted, 2019 would obviously be a rebuilding year for the defensive line. Coach Venables employed a lot of three-down-lineman looks to mask depth issues. It worked reasonably well Connor Graham Jersey, but entering 2020, we were excited about the defensive line taking a big step forward. Here what we wrote in our preview:For decades, Clemson has made its living on the defensive line. From the Fridge to Gaines Adams, Vic Beasley Co. to the Power Rangers, it always been a vital ingredient to a good Clemson team. In 2019, though, there were a lot of depth issues and growing pains after the departure of our beloved Rangers, forcing a shift to using a three-man front on most plays. That changes in 2020.In one fell swoop, Clemson depth on the line has gone from a shaky unit to a huge benefit, and suddenly it has depth to spare. Nearly every player in the two deep returns. Add in developmental players coming into their own, like former five-star K.J. Henry, and things are looking up.Oh, and then Clemson brings in one of the best defensive line recruiting classes Ie ever seen. Alliteratively headlined by #1 overall recruit Bryan Bresee and #1 DE (#7 overall) Myles Murphy, bolstered by top 40 recruit Demonte Capehart and four star Tre Williams at DT, these are four players you should get used to seeing.2020 Performance:The off-season took a toll on Clemson defensive line. First, DE Logan Rudolph concluded his college career after just three seasons to pursue a career in acting. That was a blow, but with Justin Foster and Xavier Thomas, the Tigers still felt good about their starters. Then COVID-19 struck. Thomas contracted the virus and then got hit with strep throat. The combination derailed his conditioning and caused him to miss the start of the season. When he returned, it was in limited snaps. We saw flashes from Thomas, but he was never 100% and only started one game. Justin Foster had health issues as well and did not play in 2020 Tyler Davis Jersey. Down their top three defensive ends, the Tigers turned to true freshman Myles Murphy. Fortunately, he delivered. Murphy led all DEs with 414 snaps and 4 sacks. He was Clemson most efficient passing rushing lineman. After Murphy, there was a drop off. KJ Henry and Justin Mascoll essentially shared time as co-starters opposite Murphy with 384 and 377 snaps, respectively. Henry had 3.5 sacks and was reliable, but wasn especially explosive https://www.ctoutletstore.com/Hampton_Earle_Jersey-83. He did not look like a 5-star prospect in his third year with the program. Justin Mascoll (a former four-star) struggled at times. At defensive tackle, Tyler Davis proved to be the most valuable member of the defense. He struggled with injuries throughout the season, and whenever he was unavailable, the run defense took a step back. He only played 196 snaps due to injury.Bryan Bresee earned a starting role as a true freshman and won ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He led all Clemson defensive linemen with 432 snaps. He figures to be a star in the coming years. Providing depth were veterans Nyles Pinckney and Jordan Williams. Pinckney was solid, but didn take a big leap in his 5th year. He announced he is transferring to Minnesota for a 6th season where hopefully the change of scenery can help him make that leap and become an NFL draft target. Similarly, Jordan Williams was serviceable, but was out-recruited and has announced his transfer to Virginia Tech.Overall, Clemson defensive line failed to reach the level that many thought they would at the start of the season. They finished 41st in passing yards allowed. While part of that can be blamed on struggles replacing Kon Wallace and Tanner Muse at safety, much of it was because the defensive line didn generate a ton of pressure (24.5 D-line sacks vs. 37.5 in 2018).A rash of injuries to key players was the primary culprit. The Tigers' ability to battle through injuries throughout the year was admirable. It was fortunate that the two highly-touted freshmen, Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee, were ready to contribute immediately because the injuries necessitated it. A tough situation created performance below expectations, but it was impressive considering the circumstances. With better injury luck and more experience, there reason to be excited about the 2021 Clemson defensive line. https://www.ctoutletstore.com/Will_Taylor_Jersey-137 Will Taylor Jersey
